‘Clover combo’ at Crest Bar & Grill

The four-course meal began with a bowl of Guinness beef stew. Ultra-soft carrots and long-simmered beef practically evaporated when chewed.

Next up was shepherd’s pie — mashed potatoes, peas, corn, beef and gravy served piping hot.

Then came the main entree: a big plate of corned beef and cabbage served with the requisite red potatoes, even a piece of corn on the cob.

At this point, most diners will find themselves full to bursting, but try to save a little room for dessert.

Crest, as its final course in the “clover combo,” offered a “wee slice” of cake, topped with what I guess qualified as a “wee scoop” of ice cream. It served as a fitting end to a massive Irish meal.
