Elmira, N.Y. (WETM)- We are looking at a dry and partly cloudy day before weekend rainfall. How long does the rain plan to stay? Details below:

TODAY:

The rest of the morning will mainly see a mix of sun and high clouds, and partly cloudy conditions continue this afternoon but clouds are building in all ahead of a frontal system moving in for the weekend. Temperatures today are in the upper 70s and low 80s.

TONIGHT:

Tonight, we are mostly cloudy and mainly dry through the evening. Around midnight, a few isolated showers may pop up. Temperatures tonight are in the low 50s.

THIS WEEKEND:

The timing of the next two systems we have been tracking will determine the impacts on our weekend forecast. As of now, the front will slowly approach, leaving the first half of our Saturday mostly cloudy with a chance for some spotty showers. There will be a better chance for showers tomorrow evening, but the widespread showers we were tracking for the weekend now look to arrive on Sunday. We’ll continue to see chances for rain into the start of the work week if this system stalls on Sunday.
