Closing Time: Dylan Bundy continues to dominate down stretch
Dylan Bundy tossed the first complete game for the Orioles this season Tuesday night, striking out a dozen Mariners and allowing a single hit that was only a bunt (his Game Score was 100). Over his last five starts, he has a 2.00 ERA with a 0.81 WHIP and a 45:6 K:BB ratio over 36.0 innings. He’s now recorded double-digit strikeouts in three of his last four starts, as the former top-five pick is living up to his pedigree. Bundy has an 11.5 SwStr% that ranks No. 16 among all starters in major league baseball. He’s 24 years old, and the light bulb may have just gone off. Bundy is still available in a quarter of Yahoo leagues, and it sure looks like he’ll be a difference maker in fantasy leagues down the stretch.

Quick Hits: Fernando Rodney has a 4.63 ERA yet recorded his 33rd save of the season…Brad Hand has a 2.16 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP and is a closer who’s available in 25 percent of leagues. His K% is 34.0 (top-15 among all relievers in baseball)…While not nearly as dominant as Hand, Matt Belisle is another readily available closer if you’re after saves, as he recorded his fifth Tuesday. He’s owned in 20 percent of leagues right now…Eduardo Nunez has a .325/.362/.569 line since getting traded to Boston…Giancarlo Stanton is on pace for 63 homers, 136 RBI and 127 runs. I’d imagine those all would break records for someone batting second in the lineup…Joey Votto has eight walks over his last 11 plate appearances. He has a .492 OBP since the All-Star break.
Chris Taylor has 18 homers and 15 steals with a .911 OPS and is middle infield eligible. He was completely overlooked during all drafts, so he’s going to be a common denominator of winning fantasy teams this year…Yasiel Puig is quietly on pace to finish with 30 home runs and 15 steals, while the Dodgers are on pace to win 113 games. And I’m beginning to think my Giants might not make the playoffs…Luke Weaver has a 20:2 K:BB ratio over his last two starts. He dominated in one of the tougher hitter’s parks in baseball Tuesday. He owns a 10.7 SwStr% this season. Go get him.
