Clorox COO to retire in 2013
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — The Clorox Co.'s executive vice president and chief operating officer, Lawrence Peiros, will retire from the consumer products company April 1.
Clorox said Monday that Pieros, 57, has decided to retire after roughly 32 years with the company. He joined Clorox in 1980 as a summer intern and worked his way up, taking on his role as chief operating officer in 2007.
"Larry's influence and leadership have been profound," CEO Don Knauss said in a statement. "Larry has been selfless in driving the success of the business and the organization. We are indebted to him for his many contributions and wish him the very best."
The company will move to a new structure on Jan. 1 in which it has two chief operating officers.
Benno Dorer, 48, will be promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer, overseeing the company's laundry, home care and international business units, as well as corporate strategy and growth. He currently serves as senior vice president of the company's cleaning division in Canada.
George Roeth, 51, will be promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer, overseeing the company's household and lifestyle products as well as marketing, sales, product supply and research and development. He is currently senior vice president of the company's specialty division.
Clorox is one of the country's largest consumer product companies with products such as Pine-Sol cleaners, Fresh Step cat litter, Kingsford charcoal, Hidden Valley dressing and Brita water filters.
