Clippers Owner Donald Sterling Has Reportedly Been Battling Cancer

Banned Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling has been fighting prostate cancer for an extended period of time, sources confirmed to the New York Post and ESPN.com. The Post also claims that he has been so ill that friends are surprised he has survived as long as he has.

"People have been predicting his imminent demise," a source close to the league told the Post. "I'm sure he has the best . . . drugs money can buy."

Sterling has obviously earned a lot of haters since he was recorded making racist remarks in a conversation last week, as players and politicians criticized the comments, sponsors left the team, and NBA commissioner Adam Silver banned him from the league for life. The league is now attempting to force Sterling to sell his team.

For Clippers star Blake Griffin, though, this does give him some sympathy for the 80-year-old. "If that is true, my thoughts and prayers are with him," Griffin said to the Los Angeles Times. "Nobody deserves to go through something like that."
