Clinton vs. Trump kicks off with viral Twitter spat
Presidential rivals Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton offered a glimpse of the heated general election to come Thursday afternoon with a good old-fashioned Twitter war.
Trump started the exchange by going after “Crooked Hillary,” his preferred moniker for Clinton, after President Obama endorsed her earlier in the day.
Obama just endorsed Crooked Hillary. He wants four more years of Obama—but nobody else does!

About two hours later, Trump shot back.
How long did it take your staff of 823 people to think that up–and where are your 33,000 emails that you deleted? https://t.co/gECLNtQizQ

By then, Clinton’s tweet had already gone viral. By late Thursday afternoon, it had been retweeted more than 200,000 times — more than anything else the presumptive Democratic nominee has ever tweeted. The spat also inspired some other political figures to jump in with their own one-liners — some funnier than others.
