Clifton dentist's extensive Halloween display on Grove Street vandalized, taken down

CLIFTON — Grinches don't just steal Christmas, they also steal Halloween.

This year, once again, an extensive Grove Street annual Halloween display outside the office of dentist Dr. Wayne Gangi, has been vandalized.

Gangi, who is as known for his dentistry as he is for his displays of mannequins outfitted in holiday outfits, took down the decorations this week after vandals struck. He replaced the decorations with a sign that reads: "Vandalism ended Halloween."

Gangi told NorthJersey.com and The Record that after the most recent vandalism of his exhibit, he's pulling the plug on his Halloween-themed one for now, and perhaps for good.

In a series of text messages, Gangi talked of his frustration.

"It's been just the typical busting and stealing things on a daily basis," he texted. "Wires were being cut... tampering with the mannequins... knocking over and destroying valuable tombstones."

This vandalism is nothing new to Gangi. In 2019, he took one of his neighbors to court after his Easter-themed mannequins, dressed in Playboy bunny-like attire were attacked with garden shears.

He regrouped after that and for a number of years attracted many to stop and take a look at his displays, which often involved the female mannequins dressed in sexy attire. Gangi in his social media postings often called them his girls.

This time Gangi said he did not fill out a police report. Why bother, he said.

"What can they do?" he said. "I am sure the police have more pressing issues."

When asked if he would retool the display and bring it back this season, he said for now, it's on hold.

"Undecided on retooling... one never knows," he said. "LOL."
