A Cleveland Clinic employee was abducted and sexually assaulted Saturday morning, deputies say

Around 7:20 a.m., the woman was walking into work at the clinic when a man ran after and tackled her, said Broward County Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Donald Prichard. The man then forced her back into her car and drove away.

He sexually assaulted her and then dropped her off by a Target near Sawgrass Mills, at 12801 W Sunrise Blvd, which is about a 15-minute drive from the Cleveland Clinic, Prichard said.

After dropping off the woman, the man was last seen driving her Ford Explorer west on Alligator Alley. The car’s tag number is Y03UKP.

At 8:12 a.m., deputies were told of the abduction and sexual assault from the clinic and met the woman near the Target. She suffered minor physical injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.

“Any employee at a hospital is there to save lives, and when one of them is attacked and beaten it is just a horrific thought,” Prichard said. “Detectives are asking anyone with information to come forward and identify this male.”

The man is said to be in his mid 30s, 5-foot-8 or 5-foor-9, and has a Middle Eastern accent, brown hair and long brown beard. He was last seen wearing an orange long sleeve shirt with dark colored pants.

BSO Special Victims Unit detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying and finding the suspect. Anyone with information on the man’s whereabouts is asked to call Detective Robert Raush at 954-321-4234.
