Cleveland casino, Ohio's 1st of 4, fined $180,000 for violations including unapproved dice
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Ohio's first casino has been fined $180,000 for violating state rules, including using unapproved dice and replacing chips with quarters.
The fine approved Wednesday by the Ohio Casino Control Commission is the second against the Horseshoe Casino Cleveland, which opened last May. The casino was fined $15,000 in January for using unapproved software for a gambler incentive program.
The latest fine was handed down for violations also including mishandling keys and failing to post a problem-gambling hotline on promotional posters.
The casino waived a hearing and reached a settlement with the commission that included the fine and corrective measures.
Casino general manager Marcus Glover says the issues have been addressed and the casino is committed to avoiding repeat problems.
Casinos also have opened in Cincinnati, Columbus and Toledo.
