How to Clean Your Windows Like a Pro

Cleaning your windows might seem like an easy task—spray on some cleaning solution, wipe, repeat—but if you really want the most sparkling, streak-free glass possible, there are some pro tips you should know. We asked House Beautiful contributor (and cleaner extraordinaire) Eddie Ross to share his method for immaculately spotless windows. Spoiler alert: it doesn't involve paper towels!

You'll Need:

- Glass cleaning solution (Ross likes Sprayway Glass Cleaner)
- Dishwashing liquid and water mixture in spray bottle
- Lint-free towel or rag
- Glass scraper tool
- Packing paper sheets (They leave the most streak-free finish, says Ross)

How to Clean Windows

1. If your windows are in need of some cleaning, begin by mixing water with some dishwashing liquid. Next, place that mixture into a spray bottle, and spray your windows with this concoction.

2. Wipe down your windows with a towel or a rag until they're completely dry.

3. Inspect your windows for any leftover debris—whether that means sticky or hard-to-remove waste—and use a glass scraper or razor to scrape off anything that shouldn't be there.

4. Working from top to bottom, make sure you spray each window pane with glass cleaner. Then, wipe each pane with packing paper sheets. If you're also cleaning your window exteriors, work from the outside top to the inside top, then the outside bottom to the inside bottom.

At long last, you can now enjoy your crystal-clear view!
