Clean Harbors promotes CFO to new role of COO

NORWELL, Mass. (AP) — Clean Harbors Inc. said Monday that James Rutledge, its current vice chairman, chief financial officer and treasurer, is being promoted to the newly created position of president and chief operating officer.

Rutledge, 60, will remain vice chairman of the Norwell, Mass.-based environmental cleanup company. Clean Harbors also said that Robert Gagnon, 38, has joined the company and will be its executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer.

Rutledge joined Clean Harbors in 2005 and was named vice chairman in 2011. Before working at Clean Harbors, Rutledge served as chief financial officer of Rogers Corp. from 2002 to 2005.

Gagnon previously was vice president of finance, business planning and chief accounting officer at Biogen Idec Inc. He joined that company in 2005.

Clean Harbors shares fell 30 cents to close at $57.
