Clashes Between Protesters and Security Forces Continue Through the Night in Baghdad

Protesters erected barricades on the Mohammed al-Qasim Highway in Baghdad on Monday, January 20, and Tuesday, January 21, as clashes with security forces continued through the night and into the next day.

Video shared from the highway early on Tuesday morning shows protesters manning the barricades and lighting fires.

On Monday, at least four protesters and two police officers were killed in the clashes, according to Reuters. One of those killed was Yousif Satar, a photographer with an Iraqi NGO called Support Without Borders. The NGO confirmed his death in a post to Facebook.
