Jeremy Clarkson was supposed to be sidelined from filming The Grand Tour for two whole months after his recent bout of health, but Clarkson is no normal man. (In many senses of the word "normal".)

Jezza was struck down with a life-threatening case of pneumonia over the summer, forcing him to immediately halt work on the second season of Amazon Prime Video's motoring series.

However, Jeremy has made a speedy enough recovery that he's officially been signed off to get back behind the wheel on The Grand Tour from Wednesday (September 13), after just six weeks on the mend.

His producer Andy Wilman shared the good news with the press gathered for the Royal Television Society in Cambridge earlier today (via the Radio Times).

"He's cleared to film from today; so some doctor somewhere has accepted the bribe and signed him off fit, so they're all back doing a thing," Wilman teased.

"We're playing catch-up now with our filming schedule like crazy."

The Grand Tour was also hit with delays while shooting in Switzerland earlier in the year, when Richard Hammond was knocked out of action temporarily thanks to a serious car accident

Time away from The Grand Tour seemed to really annoy the already-grumpy Jeremy, who admitted soon after his hospitalisation: "I've never had one day off work since I started in 1978."

The Grand Tour is supposed to return later this year on Amazon Prime Video, so let's hope the boys are catching up on the double! Watch a teaser below:
