Clarks Hill man killed Saturday in one-car crash on U.S. 52

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Lester Glenn Fix died after his northbound car left the highway about 3:45 a.m. Saturday, drove into a ditch and hit a culvert in the 8600 block of U.S. 52, causing the car to become airborne, according to the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office.

Fix, 39, of Clarks Hill, was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected from the car during the crash, according to the sheriff's office.

His passenger, Jessica Struble, 36, of Wheatfield, was wearing a seat belt, and was pinned in the wreckage. Lauramie Township firefighters extricated her from the wreckage. Struble was taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries that were not believed to be life threatening, according to the sheriff's office.

Northbound U.S. 52 was closed for about two hours as crash-scene reconstructionist investigated the accident, according to the sheriff's office.

Fix's autopsy is scheduled for Monday, Tippecanoe County Coroner Carrie Costello said.
