Clackamas baller is last Oregon local left in men’s NCAA tournament

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Gonzaga University forward Ben Gregg is the last local player remaining in the 2024 men’s NCAA tournament.

The 6-foot-10-inch Clackamas native is averaging 9.4 points and 5.9 rebounds in his junior season with the Bulldogs. Gregg scored 15 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in Gonzaga’s 89-68 win against the University of Kansas Jayhawks during the second round of the tournament.

Gregg and the Bulldogs take on number-one seed Purdue University on March 29 at 4:39 p.m. As one of the Bulldogs’ tallest players, Gregg will likely have to match up with Purdue’s 7-foot-4-inch center Zach Edey, who’s averaging 24.4 points and 12.1 rebounds per game this season.

If the number-five-seed Bulldogs can upset Purdue Friday, Gonzaga will advance to the Elite Eight, where they will face either Creighton University or the University of Tennessee.
