'This was the city's goal'

Hello and happy Friday! This is Tennessean planning director Madalyn Hoerr with your Daily Briefing. My favorite way to kick off the weekend is by supporting local journalism. Click here if you want to join the fun.

Speaking of supporting local, since opening in March 2021, Fifth + Broadway has become a destination for Nashvillians — and tourists, of course — with their array of home-grown dining options and shops.

The goal for Fifth + Broadway was to reshape dining, entertainment and living in downtown Nashville.

Business reporter Sherah Ndjongo writes that for some locals, it brought back a certain welcoming appeal to downtown Nashville during its first year in operation — one that could be argued may have been dimming for some time before the complex opened up to the public.

“This project adds to a true mixed-use environment of downtown where you can live, work, play,” Tamara Dickson, Vice President of Economic Development at Nashville Downtown Partnership stated. “The healthy mix of national, regional and local retail and restaurants helps create a true retail destination in the heart of Nashville.”

So how successful has Fifth + Broadway been in its first year? And how do they plan to continue to foster community interest? Read more from Sherah here.
