City utilities workers repeatedly prove their value in ‘war zone’, in our daily lives

There are so many reasons to like living in Tallahassee, the trees, the arts, the universities, the parks, but most importantly, the people.

People who work every day to make this city a better, and more livable place. Those who are highly recognizable and those who perfect the art of living by simply doing their jobs every day. The folks who work for the City of Tallahassee Utilities are those people who often serve in obscurity but are so valuable.

We just experienced what the Tallahassee Democrat has labeled “a war zone” among other descriptors, yet the city utility workers got busy and got to work immediately. I am grateful that even though my neighborhood did not experience the wrath of nature as did other segments of the city, I received up to date text messages from the City of Tallahassee Utilities alerting citizens about the progress that was being made. It gave me a sense of hope for those neighbors who had been so devastatingly impacted that they were not alone, and that help was on the way.

The people at the City of Tallahassee Utilities are always working.

My husband and I had some landscaping work done by a local nursery. Everything looked wonderful, yet unbeknownst to us, the crew had inadvertently cut an irrigation line. The following day, we received an email from City Utilities stating that an unusual amount of water use was detected. We had no way of knowing this from looking at our yard. Thankfully, we were able to have the irrigation line repaired and things are back to normal.

This is a service that I will never forget. Thank you, City of Tallahassee Utilities.
