City of Roswell giving away tree seedlings

ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – A program in Roswell is helping local residents celebrate Arbor Day. The Keep Roswell Beautiful program is handing out tree seedlings for residents who are interested in planting them. The seedlings are expected to include Afghan Pine, Arizona sycamore, bur oak, hackberry, lilac, New Mexico locust, piñon, and Rocky Mountain juniper.

The giveaway will happen on April 13 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Spring River Zoo Park. The seedlings will be given out on a first-come, first-serve basis. People who attend will be given a Keep Roswell Beautiful shopping tote, a reusable Toss No Mas car trash container, a box of energy-efficient LED lightbulbs, and flower seeds.

Volunteers are needed to help set up the event and during the event. Volunteers will need to sign in at 7:30 a.m. and will help until 11:30 a.m. Anyone interested in volunteering or learning more about the seedling giveaway can call Keep Roswell Beautiful Coordinator Kathy Lay at 575-500-0395.
