City official says 'ordeal over' in standoff with gunman at pharmacy

OMAHA, Neb. - An Alliance, Neb., official says "the ordeal is over" in a daylong standoff with a gunman who was holed up in a pharmacy.

City Manager J.D. Cox told The Associated Press early Wednesday that the standoff had ended but said he did not know the fate of the gunman.

Nebraska State Patrol Lt. Lance Rogers said the gunman is blamed for shooting and wounding two city police officers and a state patrol officer. None of their injuries is life-threatening.

The man held a hostage for hours Tuesday in a western Nebraska drugstore. The hostage managed to escape but was wounded while getting away, police said.

Rogers also said police found a body Tuesday in a nearby home but declined to say whether it is related to the standoff.
