City of Norman seeks public opinion on NPD, NFD performance

May 21—Through the end of the week, the City of Norman is seeking resident feedback on public safety services.

The City has posted an online survey as part of an ongoing study into public safety resource allocation for the Norman Police Department and Norman Fire Department. The survey is accessible at surveymonkey.com/r/7PYBYY8 through Sunday.

The survey is 12 questions long, allowing residents to agree or disagree with statements about the performances of the NPD and NFD. There are also sections allowing residents to choose which areas they think the NPD and NFD should prioritize for improvement and to share miscellaneous public safety concerns.

"By actively involving residents and business owners in this study, we aim to identify ways to further enhance public safety response capabilities," said Norman Police Chief Kevin Foster. "The insights gathered through the survey will be instrumental in shaping our strategies and enhancing our services to better serve the needs of Norman."

The ongoing resource allocation study, conducted by San Francisco-based Matrix Consulting Group, will analyze department organization, staffing, services, facilities, equipment, and technology for Norman's police and fire departments.

"Having input from the community is very valuable," said Norman Fire Chief Travis King. "We always like to analyze feedback and see how and if it can be used to improve the quality and efficiency of the service we provide."

City staff anticipate the results of the study will be presented at a public meeting this summer.
