City to host meet and greet at Mexican American Culture Center

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The City of El Paso’s Museums and Cultural Affairs Department is inviting the community to a meet and greet event at the Mexican American Cultural Center (MACC) on Thursday, May 9, according to the City of El Paso.

The City says the event will be at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at the El Paso Museum of History located at 510 N. Santa Fe St.

City staff will present an overview of the MACC and the event will serve as an opportunity for the public to share suggestions on upcoming programming at the new facility.

The City says the Mexican American Cultural Center is currently under construction with an opening expected later this year.

“The mission of the El Paso Mexican American Cultural Center is to celebrate the dynamic traditions and resiliency of our border cultures through vibrant arts experiences and creative engagement. The Mexican American Cultural Center is a cultural institution housed under the Museum and Cultural Affairs Department’s umbrella,” the City said.

In 2012, El Paso voters approved a Quality of Life Bond program, which included the Mexican American Cultural Center (MACC) as one of its signature projects, according to the City.
