Citronelle High School prom king, queen honored after car accident (photos, video)

CITRONELLE, Ala. (WKRG) — Clarence “IV” Rivers and Destiny Jones couldn’t have imagined they’d become Citronelle High School’s prom king and queen, much less receive the announcement in a hospital room.

“IV” was injured in a March 29 car crash that killed Destiny’s brother and nephew (and seriously injured another brother). He has been in the hospital and has had several surgeries since then.

The pair have been through a lot, and Citronelle High School’s senior class voted them Prom King and Prom Queen.

With prom tonight, they can’t appear together.

But they still got to enjoy wearing the regalia for this honor.

Senior class representatives and Assistant Principal Heather Hunt surprised the couple on Thursday with their crowns, sashes and flowers.
