Update 6:09 a.m. Friday: A weak cold front will move east across the area Friday.

Showers will occur, mainly over western areas, through mid-morning and then spread across the rest of the area in the afternoon. There is a chance for some embedded thunderstorms to occur. With some cooler air moving in from the west, highs will range from the mid-70s west to the lower 80s east.

Showers and a chance for thunderstorms will return on Saturday, along with some cooler temperatures. However, the probability of precipitation will be lower on Saturday than on Friday. The greatest chance for precipitation will occur in the east. Afternoon highs will be in the mid- to upper 70s.

Showers could occur again during the day and overnight on Sunday, for the Flying Pig marathon, half-marathon and other events. Sunday's high will be near 81.

What's in the forecast for the start of the Flying Pig races on Saturday and Sunday?

An hourly forecast for Saturday shows the precipitation potential at 22% as of 7 a.m., when the first race, the Toyota 10K, will kick off. After 7 a.m., the precipitation potential will rise to 47% between 1 and 6 p.m. The temperature is also slated to be around 64 degrees at 7 a.m.

The relative humidity will be high early in the morning, estimated to be 97% at 7 a.m.

The precipitation potential will be 30% between 2 and 7 a.m. on Sunday. The temperature will be 65 degrees for the start of the Flying Pig marathon at 6:30 a.m. and climb to 81 by 4 p.m. As temperatures rise, the precipitation potential will increase throughout the day.

The relative humidity will be high early in the morning, estimated at 93% at 6:30 a.m., rising to 96% by 7 a.m.

Update 6:09 a.m. Thursday: A low-pressure system moving through the Ohio Valley region will bring widespread showers and thunderstorms during Friday. Highs will range from the mid-70s west to the lower 80s east.

Showers and storms will persist throughout Saturday. Right now, the highest probability of more widespread precipitation will occur east of I-75, although all areas will have a chance for thunderstorms given the humid airmass in place. High temperatures will be in the mid-to-upper 70s.

There is a renewed chance for showers and storms on Sunday for the Flying Pig marathon, half marathon, and other activities. Sunday is currently expected to be partly sunny with a high near 81 during the day and mostly cloudy with a low around 60 at night.

According to forecasts from the National Weather Service, dry, warm weather conditions are expected through Thursday.

Then rain and storm chances are slated to return Friday and persist into early next week. However, forecasters are not overly concerned about a severe weather threat as of now. The exact timing of when precipitation will end remains unclear, but the latter parts of Saturday are trending drier.

Another embedded shortwave is forecast to track through the region again late Sunday into Monday, increasing the probability of precipitation.

Above-normal temperatures are expected to persist through early next week. Saturday's high will be near 79, and Sunday's will be 80.

Saturday at 7 a.m. (Toyota 10K): The precipitation potential is 22%. The temperature will be 64 degrees and the relative humidity will be 97%.

Saturday at noon (Goodwill PigAbilities): The precipitation potential is 37%. The temperature will be 73 degrees and the relative humidity will be 80%.

Saturday at 1 p.m. (Flying Fur): The precipitation potential is 37%. The temperature will be 75 degrees and the relative humidity will be 76%.

Sunday at 6:30 a.m. (Flying Pig Marathon, Paycor half-marathon and CityDash 4-Person Relay): The precipitation potential is 30%. The temperature will be 65 degrees and the relative humidity will be 93%.
