Another University of Cincinnati football player won't be available for the Fenway Bowl.

Wide receiver Tyler Scott announced Wednesday he will opt out of Saturday's bowl game and declare for the 2023 NFL Draft.

The Bearcats' leading receiver and 2022 second-team All-American Athletic Conference selection thanked his Cincinnati coaches, including former UC head coach Luke Fickell and former UC wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator Mike Brown, who are both now at Wisconsin.

"I want to thank Coach Fickell for believing in me and giving me an opportunity to continue to play the game that I love," Scott wrote in a post to Twitter. "I want to thank Coach Brown for not only helping me become a better football player, but also a better man. I also want to thank Coach Brady for helping me grow and develop me in so many different areas, pushing me above my line, and above my talent."

Brady Collins, Cincinnati's former director of football sports performance, is also joining Fickell at Wisconsin.

Scott had career highs in catches (54), yards (899) and touchdowns (nine) this season. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound junior finishes his UC career with 87 receptions, 1,439 yards and 14 touchdowns. Each of Scott's 14 scores went for at least 20 yards.

Scott joins tight ends Josh Wyle and Leonard Taylor, and Scott's close friend and fellow wide receiver Tre Tucker on the list of Cincinnati players who will skip the Fenway Bowl and prepare for the upcoming NFL draft. Several other Bearcats players have entered the transfer portal, including standout wide receiver Jadon Thompson and 2022 first-team All-AAC cornerback Ja'Quan Sheppard, who announced Sunday he was transferring to Maryland.

UC football coach Satterfield announces new assistants

Newly hired Cincinnati football coach Scott Satterfield announced Wednesday he is bringing five assistant coaches with him from Louisville.

Satterfield said former Cardinals defensive coordinator Bryan Brown, offensive line coach Nic Cardwell, linebackers coach Derek Nicholson, running backs coach De'Rail Sims and quarterbacks coach Pete Thomas will also be on his staff at Cincinnati.

“I’m thrilled to announce our first wave of staff hires here at Cincinnati,” Satterfield said. “I’ve worked with all of these coaches for several years. Not only are they great coaches, evaluators and recruiters, they are also men of character who are as committed to preparing student-athletes for what’s off the field as they are for what’s on the field. They have won everywhere they have been, and that’s exactly what we plan to do here at Cincinnati. They are all already here in the office as we focus on recruiting ahead of the early signing day. We are excited to begin preparation for the 2023 season.”

The official titles and responsibilities of Satterfield's newly hired assistants will be announced at a later date, according to UC.

Satterfield also revealed that Mark Speir will serve as his chief of staff, while Carter Wilson will be a member of Cincinnati's recruiting staff. Both worked with Satterfield at Louisville.

Cincinnati football:Kerry Coombs opens up as he prepares Bearcats for Fenway Bowl

Satterfield announced Friday that he is retaining current UC assistant Kerry Coombs on his staff as the secondary coach and special teams coordinator. Coombs signed a new three-year deal.

Coombs will lead the Bearcats (9-3) against Louisville (7-5) in the Fenway Bowl at 11 a.m. Saturday on ESPN. Neither Satterfield nor any of his new hires will coach in the bowl game.
