Chuck E. Cheese to close Sioux Falls location Saturday

Chuck E. Cheese, at 2600 South Louise Avenue, will be closing its doors permanently Saturday, according to Sioux Falls general manager James Abbott on Thursday.

Abbott said this news was shared with Sioux Falls Chuck E. Cheese employees only a few days ago and that the team will be meeting Friday morning to learn more details.

Parents have been in contact with the restaurant frequently on account of canceled birthday parties because of the closure, Abbott said.

The business' corporation confirmed the closure Thursday night.

"We are always evaluating our real estate and development strategies to ensure these align with our strategic goals," a statement emailed from CEC Entertainment read. "We made the difficult decision to close effective 3/30/24. We will continue to seek new opportunities for families to enjoy Chuck E. Cheese and remain committed to delivering fun, family-friendly experiences across all our locations and appreciate the ongoing support from our communities."

The Sioux Falls location often served as an outlet for parents to bring children to have fun and release energy from being indoors during harsh winters. The business has been open since 2001.
