FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Chuck D, a hip-hop artist and a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member, will be making an appearance at the Fresno City College’s Speakers Forum, officials announced on Friday.

He will appear at the Old Administration Building Auditorium to speak as it is part of events commemorating Black History Month.

Known as a founding member of the pioneering group Public Enemy and a member of the supergroup Prophets of Rage, organizers say Chuck D will discuss the cultural impact of hip-hop over the past 50 years and his career.

Organizers say he is a social activist, author, film producer, and digital music pioneer. He has served as a national spokesperson for Rock The Vote, the National Urban League, the National Alliance of African American Athletes, Hip Hop Public Health, and as Chairman of the Celebrity Board for the forthcoming Universal Hip Hop Museum in New York.

Chuck D’s presentation is set to begin at 6 p.m., and organizers say it will be followed by a book signing. Admission is free.
