Chrysler sales jump 21 percent in 2012 on demand for Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ram pickup

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) -- Chrysler Group LLC said Thursday that its U.S. sales jumped 21 percent last year, boosted by demand for the Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV, the Ram pickup and the Chrysler 300 luxury sedan.

BY THE NUMBERS: Chrysler sold 1.65 million vehicles in 2012, up from 1.37 million in 2010. In December, Chrysler Group sales rose 10 percent to 152,367, up from 138,019 in 2011.

TOP SELLER: The Auburn Hills, Mich.-based automaker sold 293,363 Ram pickups last year, marking a 20 percent increase from 244,762 in 2011.

HOT MODELS: Chrysler sold 154,734 Jeep Grand Cherokees last year, up 21 percent from 127,744 sold in 2011. Sales of Chrysler 300 nearly doubled to 70,747.
