Who Is Christina Sanchez, Mother Of José Reyes' Love Child?

Sanchez is suing the 33-year-old baseball infielder for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball for increased child support payments.

Christina Sanchez, the mother of José Reyes' love child, was removed from a Long Island courtroom Monday for becoming emotional and raising her voice during a child support hearing. Reyes, an infielder for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball was not present at the court hearing related to his 8-year-old daughter, Liyah.

Steven Gildin, who represents Sanchez, said his client was asked to leave the court as she accused Reyes of abandoning their daughter. The court, in return, blamed Sanchez for the disturbance and forbade her from returning. Sanchez is suing the 33-year-old for increased child support payments.

“This is a very hard situation for my client. Her daughter can’t understand why her daddy has not seen her in a year and a half and refuses to even talk to her. He used to be very close to her, and now nothing. In the absence of the father, my client has done everything to show her child unconditional love and make her feel valued,” Gildin said, according to Page Six. “Yes, my client showed her emotions today, but it was out of love for her child. For this, she was tossed out of the courtroom. But where is the justice for this child who cries for her daddy?”

On Monday, the judge ordered Reyes to provide his daughter with health insurance. In April, Sanchez told the New York Daily News she had a six-year affair with Reyes, who is a married father of three. Sanchez, a model and singer, is releasing the single “Love You Down” later this month.

“We’d go to restaurants, go to games, go shopping, that was the life I was living,” Sanchez said, referring to traveling all over the country with Reyes when he was with the Mets, Marlins and Blue Jays. “It was a double life, but I wanted (Reyes) to be a father of our child.”

Sanchez also said the last time she or her daughter saw Reyes was Christmas 2015.

“I knew once I stopped having sex with Jose he’d stop seeing our daughter,” she said. “I knew it! I didn’t want to be his mistress the rest of my life. I couldn’t do that.”

Tensions between Sanchez and Reyes erupted after the former learnt her then-boyfriend was married since 2008.

According to Page Six, Reyes initially offered a small amount of support for Liyah, and bought them a small house in South Jersey. But he allegedly cut off all support and contact when his wife found out about his secret affair in 2015, after someone sent her a message on social media.

In October 2015, Reyes was arrested on a domestic abuse complaint in Hawaii. The case was eventually dismissed without prejudice in March 2016 because Reyes’ wife, Katherine Ramirez, refused to cooperate.

Reyes received a 52-game ban from the MLB last year for violating the association's domestic violence policy. Sanchez told the Daily News that Reyes had never been physically violent with her.
