Christel Bell bids farewell; here’s what’s next for the FOX4 anchor

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Christel Bell has been with FOX4 as an evening anchor for nearly 4 years. Wednesday marks her last day with the station.

“I’m taking a break from the anchor desk, but not from the news,” Bell said.

She and her family are heading to Phoenix where she’ll work as an investigative reporter and fill-in anchor at KNXV.

Bell’s decision comes after a health setback in June 2023 when doctors found a cyst on her trachea. She had surgery to remove it a few weeks later, but was later diagnosed with right vocal cord paresis.

“I was determined to come back to FOX4, and when I was so blessed to return in November, I knew there were going to be challenges ahead as I was still on the road to complete recovery,” Bell said.

Now Bell said she’s made the tough decision to prioritize her health, continue healing and step back from the anchor desk.

“It was a tough decision because I love the FOX4 viewers so dearly,” she said. “I am so grateful for my time here in Kansas City. I have enjoyed the people of this great city.”

“Kansas City, you’ve been more than just a location on the map; you’ve been a community that welcomed me with open arms.”

“From the vibrant neighborhoods to the resilient spirit that defines you, I have been fortunate to witness and report on the stories that make this city so special.
