Legendary radio host Doug Banks has died at the age of 57.

V103 Chicago, one of the radio stations Banks worked at, revealed the news in a tweet on Monday.



"It is with a heavy heart we share the news Doug Banks has passed away. Our thoughts & prayers are with his family & friends at this time," the station tweeted.

The radio station did not reveal a cause of death, but ABC 7 reported that Banks had suffered from diabetes for some time and died from complications of the disease.







Upon hearing the news, celebrities took to Twitter to express their sadness.

"Doug Banks. RIP. 2016 the year the music died," Chris Rock tweeted.

Gabrielle Union also took to the social media network to pay respects.









"So sad to hear of the passing of #DougBanks He was such a sweet, considerate man & always very supportive," the actress wrote. "Truly will be missed. RIP."

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, talk show host Wendy Williams, Los Angeles radio personality Yesi Ortiz and Reverend Jesse Jackson were also among the many who tweeted their condolences.
