Chris Brown Breaks His Silence on Rihanna Assault Aftermath in New Documentary: I Felt Like a 'Monster'
Chris Brown is clearing the air.
The singer will star in Welcome to My Life: The Official Chris Brown Documentary, which will chronicle his seemingly overnight come-up in mainstream music and moving on from the infamous moment that changed his life forever: when he assaulted ex Rihanna the night before the 2009 Grammys.
The first trailer for the film dropped late Sunday and promises to feature a range of industry mainstays, including Usher, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Lopez, Mary J. Blige and Mike Tyson.
"This is the first time I get to say anything," Brown says in the preview.
Framed as a comeback and redemption story, the dramatic clip finds Brown, now 26, reflecting on his past and eying his future.
"I went from being on top of the world, No. 1 songs, being kind of like America's sweetheart to being Public Enemy No. 1," the R&B star says in the preview.
"I felt like a f---ing monster. I was thinking about suicide, I wasn't sleeping, I barely ate ... If there was ever a doubt in your mind Chris Brown was done, he was finished ... I wouldn't bet on it."
A release date for Welcome to My Life has yet to be announced, and Brown – who welcomed daughter Royalty in 2014 – hasn't commented on the documentary, aside from tweeting the trailer on Sunday. But, production company Riveting Entertainment promised in its Vimeo trailer that details will be announced "soon."
