CHP responds to vehicle collision with train in Lodi

Apr. 23—California Highway Patrol officers responded to a collision involving a small SUV and a train at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday on Kettleman Lane just west of DeVries Road, reports state.

According to the CHP's traffic website, the driver of the SUV attempted to cross the railroad tracks as the gate arms were descending. The SUV, which was towing a camper, was struck by the train and then ran into an electrical box nearby, reports state. The incident is currently classified as a traffic collision with major injuries.

Sargent Road traffic was blocked by the stopped train, reports state, and the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office was requesting traffic at Ray Road along Kettlleman Lane be stopped at about 1:30 p.m.
