CHP reminds drivers of express lane rules

(KRON) – The California Highway Patrol reminds drivers that express lane driving is not for solo drivers.

CHP in Hayward posted a picture on Facebook (see below) of a driver who placed a hat on the top of the passenger seat to create the illusion that there was another person in the vehicle with him.

The California Highway Patrol states, “While driving in the Express Lane on the freeway, drivers are required to set the (FasTrak) transponder to the correct number of actual occupants inside the vehicle.”

Not complying with this rule can result in a citation of the California Vehicle Code and a fine of $238.
