CHP to conduct DUI checkpoint this weekend in Yolo County

(FOX40.COM) — The California Highway Patrol said it will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint this weekend in Yolo County.

According to CHP, the checkpoint will run from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday on State Route 16 east of Country Road 97.

Why does California law enforcement announce DUI checkpoints?

CHP said it would cancel the checkpoint for inclement weather and instead have officers go on “roving DUI patrol.”

According to CHP, the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, provided the money for officers to be trained in the detection of impaired drivers and for “state-of-the-art hand-held breath testing devices.”
