Chornobyl survivors warn of 'horrific' risks at Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant

STORY: Workers, who were involved in the operation following the accident, told Reuters that Zaporizhzhia NPP occupied by the Russian forces presents risks no less than the Chornobyl nuclear disaster.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has long warned of the risks of a disaster at Zaporizhzhia, Europe's largest nuclear plant, and urged an end to fighting in the area.

The plant is just 500 km (300 miles) from the site of the Chornobyl disaster.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi says that fighting a war around a nuclear plant has put nuclear safety and security in "constant jeopardy."
