Chloe Burrows left in tears after faking romance with reality star to 'earn £250,000 in a year'

Chloe Burrows was left in tears by the response to her new Channel 4 documentary, Love In The Limelight: UNTOLD.

In the one-off documentary, the reality TV star confessed to orchestrating a fake romance with Too Hot To Handle's Harry Johnson as part of her exploration into the phenomenon of showmances after learning she could earn £250,000 from it.

The 28-year-old rose to prominence on the seventh season of Love Island, where she secured second place alongside then boyfriend Toby Aromolaran, 25. Although it wasn’t meant to be and they split in 2022.

Following her reality TV experience, Burrows embarked on a journey to delve into how celebrity couples capitalise on media attention for financial gain.

In the documentary, she spoke with other Love Island couples, including Liam Reardon and Millie Court, as well as Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey, who disclosed that they had staged arguments to profit from paparazzi photos.

Upon learning that a sham media romance could yield up to £250,000 annually, she arranged staged outings with fellow reality star Johnson, 31, to generate media attention.

In the documentary, she shared: “Now I've heard how it all works and the big money involved, I want to put it to the test, it's time to launch my own showmance.

“If I really was going to be serious, that is so easy to make money off. You can start to see the web of finances that can go behind a reality couple.”

The pair met with celebrity agent Dave Read, who looks after the likes of Joey Essex, and told them he could see a “lucrative future” for them, advising them to set up photographs house-hunting or ring shopping.

He added:'There's no reason that between you in one year you couldn't bank a quarter of a million pounds.'

After the documentary was released on Wednesday, Burrows was left in tears by the reaction on Thursday and shared on her Instagram Story: “Crying happy tears in the back of this cab cos I'm already overwhelmed by the response.

“Love u lot xxxx.

“P.S. I know I said I'd never post a vid crying but happy tears are allowed!”
