The Final Season of Fixer Upper Premieres Tonight: Get an Exclusive Peek with Chip and Joanna

Are you ready to see your final season of Fixer Upper?

Chip and Joanna Gaines shocked fans (and broke a few hearts) when they announced that the fifth season of the hit HGTV series would be their last. Premiering Tuesday night, their 13-episode swan song promises to be their most memorable yet.

This exclusive look at the first show opens with Chip playing his classic resident jokester role, accidentally — and loudly — breaking a glass door while Joanna tries to film. “That’s what you get,” Joanna, 39, jokes.

The lucky homeowners in this episode are Matt and Samantha, who Chip, 43, describes as “a young couple, just kind of getting started.” As they search for their first property together — one that hopefully boasts “a little bit of historic charm” — the usual remodeling shenanigans unfold.

Chip and Joanna uncover a few surprises on set, including a plastic tube that Chip opens saying, “Please be the Declaration of Independence,” and a fake snake hidden beneath a board that prompts a serious scream.

But the biggest highlight they have in store is a little face time with their sons Drake, 12, and Duke, 9, who join their dad on a rowdy road trip to Kansas City that has Chip exasperatedly asking, “Are we there yet?” Daughters Ella, 11, and Emmie Kay, 7, also make an appearance in the series’ official intro.

There’s bound to be more ups and downs in store, but the look on Matt and Samantha’s faces when Chip and Jo pull back the classic “Before” poster proves that the final reveal is going to be worth the wait.
