Chip Gaines Secretly Revealed His Son's Name Hours Before Joanna Announced It
After much deliberation about what to call their fifth baby, Chip and Joanna Gaines finally settled on a name for their son-and Chip secretly spilled the beans without anyone noticing!
The Fixer Upper stars shared the news about the birth of their youngest, Crew, on Saturday, with Joanna, 40, seemingly being the first of the two to announce his name. But a second look at the 43-year-old contractor's initial announcement post shows he sneakily made mention of their choice hours before his wife's photos surfaced.
“The Gaines crew is now 1 stronger!” he said on Twitter, in what now appears to be a hint hidden for fans.

Chip had dropped suggestions of the moniker multiple times in the months surrounding his wife's pregnancy. In December, just weeks before they revealed she was expecting, he said he was “so proud of our crew @Magnolia,” at a holiday paintballing party with their staff.

In April, he followed up with a photo of their children, Drake, 13, Ella, 11, Duke, 9, and Emmie Kay, 8, during a demo day for one of their HGTV projects. “I love my crew!” he captioned the picture.

The subtle nod to both their growing family and their time on TV was also noticed by followers. James B. McDaniel, a producer and digital host at HGTV and a friend of the Gaineses, joked, “So, @chipgaines & @joannagaines totally just named their new baby after the #LiveTweetCrew, right?”

The couple’s pick for their latest addition is a break from the "D" names that they had traditionally given their boys. Chip admitted in April that he was rooting for them to continue the custom, but Joanna was pulling for a change of pace.
“I say he got the boy, so I get to pick the name,” Joanna reasoned on Today.
Although Joanna eventually won the battle, her husband is still reaping the benefits. After all, the C name gives their newest arrival something in common with another member of the family-dad, Chip!
