Chinese man goes viral for picking up eggs using massive iron chopsticks

A 50-year-old man has gone viral on Chinese social media for picking up eggs using giant iron chopsticks without breaking them.

A true master: Zhao Wenqi, who lives in Shandong province, eastern China, has been performing the chopsticks skill for 17 years, according to the South China Morning Post.

  • The chopsticks, which Zhao made out of iron with a small amount of wood, weighs 14 kilograms (31 pounds) and are 4.6 meters (15 feet) long. This length is almost equivalent to vertically stacking two Shaquille O’Neals, who is 7.1 feet tall, and an average-sized banana (7 to 8 inches).

  • Zhao told reporters that he increases the length of the chopsticks whenever he makes a new pair. His first ones were much shorter at 0.95 meters (3.1 feet).

TV famous:Zhao appeared on CCTV’s “Impossible Challenge” in 2019, in which he picked up an uncooked egg, a quail egg and a small bead using his handmade chopsticks.

  • The chopsticks Zhao had used in his latest demonstrations were his sixth pair.

  • They were reportedly certified by Unison in 2021 as the world's "longest spliced chopsticks,” according to the Global Times.
