China says Google controls too much of its smartphone market
As Google’s (GOOG) volume lead in the global smartphone market continues to grow, rivals keep looking for ways to slow the proliferation of its Android platform. But rival mobile companies aren’t the only entities with cause for concern, it seems, as China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently issued a report stating that Google has too much control over its smartphone sector.

“Our country’s mobile operating system research and development is too dependent on Android,” the report states. ”While the Android system is open source, the core technology and technology roadmap is strictly controlled by Google.”

According to Reuters reporter Melanie Lee, the report also claims that Google has “discriminated against some Chinese companies developing their operating systems by delaying the sharing of codes” and “used commercial agreements to restrain the business development of mobile devices of these companies.”
