PORTSMOUTH — Children’s Day, produced by Pro Portsmouth, will take place in downtown Portsmouth Sunday, May 5, from noon to 4 p.m.

As is tradition, Pro Portsmouth invites young artists to share their talent and participate in the Children’s Day Logo Contest. The logo will be seen on event maps, the event website, Children’s Day T-shirts and all marketing collateral.

Here are a few guidelines for 2024:

  • Artists under age 12 are eligible to submit drawings and designs.

  • Please use a maximum of four colors.

  • The image should be drawn and submitted on 8.5-inch x 11-inch paper.

  • You can use colored paper, markers, crayons and colored pencils to create your design – the key: the image must be flat (so it can be scanned into a computer).

  • The deadline for submission is Friday, March 29.

  • Please incorporate the year 2024 in the design.

  • Get creative – your drawings should be festive, fun and recognizable.

  • Check out previous logos here: proportsmouth.org/childrens-day-logo-contest.

Submit your entries to: info@proportsmouth.org or Pro Portsmouth, Inc., P.O. Box 967, Portsmouth NH 03802.

DOVER — COAST recently presented Gather with a “Day it Forward” donation following their Leap Day food and fund drive, which included a check for $929.92, 597 pounds of food, and 450 single-ride bus tickets for distribution to its clients.

Gather, which is based in Portsmouth, offers innovative programs that build food security in welcoming and dignified ways. For over 200 years, Gather has provided fresh, healthy food to individuals experiencing food insecurity in Greater Seacoast communities. Gather distributes food via mobile markets, fresh food bus, and food pantries in Portsmouth, Rochester, Somersworth, Dover, Farmington, Kittery, Seabrook, Hampton and Hampton Falls.

The donation included funds collected on Feb. 29 from all COAST fare boxes, food collected during COAST’s Leap Day Stuff-A-Bus event in Dover; and bus tickets purchased by contributors in the final days of February that were then matched by COAST one-for-one.

“COAST and Gather serve many of the same people and communities,” said Vanessa Polychronis of COAST. “We’re grateful to everyone who donated on Leap Day and applaud the good work that Gather does every day to eliminate hunger around the Seacoast.”
