Children’s book dedicated to Selena keeps her legacy alive

Tejano music superstar Selena Quintanilla died more than 20 years ago, but her memory will live on forever, thanks in part to an adorable children’s book highlighting some of the best moments of her life. Lil’ Libros, started by mompreneurs Patty Rodriguez and Ariana Stein, has released the bilingual story “The Life of/La Vida de Selena.” The book is filled with fun facts about the Tex-Mex queen. Remember her tour bus “Big Bertha?” She and her siblings traveled on the bus during their early years as part of the group “Selena y Los Dinos.” The famous singer was also a fashion icon! She designed her own costumes (all hail that bedazzled bustier). “This is our way of saying thank you, Selena. Thank you for your music, energy, and love. The love you had for us — your community. But most importantly thank you for allowing us to dream just like you did,” the company wrote on its Instagram page. The children’s book is already a bestseller! It’s No. 1 on three Amazon charts, including the Libros en Español list. On that list, it kicked Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone from the top spot — that’s major! It also made the top five online retailers’ bestsellers of the day. We’ll sing “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” to that! Lil’ Libros’s tribute is one of many ways fans are honoring the late star. She already has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, wax figures, and a MAC makeup line. This children’s story will introduce the star to a whole new generation of little fans!
