A 22-year-old Akron man accused of kidnapping his 1-year-old daughter and her teenage mother from Southwest Ohio was arrested in Akron Monday afternoon, according to a Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Taskforce news release.

Akron police and task force members arrested Bayron Tejeda at a home in the 300 block of Gibbs Avene. The 1-year-old Sara Herrera and 17-year-old Maoly Toscana Herrera were found safe at the same location.

The mother and daughter were previously last seen at 4:30 a.m. Monday at a foster home in West Chester near Cincinnati, Assistant Police Chief Lt. Col. Brian Rebholz said. Officers were dispatched to the home after they received a call that the pair were abducted.

Tejeda will be held locally before being extradited to West Chester, according to the news release.

West Chester Police issue Amber Alert

An Amber Alert was issued for the mother and daughter around 1 p.m.

The mother and daughter were placed in the foster home following emergency circumstances from an Akron domestic violence situation on March 9, Rebholz said.
