A boy has sustained a suspected serious leg injury after falling from a cliff path in Cornwall while riding a bike, coastguards say.

Falmouth Coastguard said rescuers were called at 18:42 BST on Monday to a report of someone falling from a cliff between Maenporth and Swanpool, near Falmouth.

A coastguard team found the child had fallen about 20m (66ft) down a steep bank.

He was brought back up the bank using rope rescue equipment and then carried to a waiting ambulance to go to hospital, coastguards said.

Falmouth Coastguard rescue team praised the casualty, saying he was "incredibly brave" throughout his ordeal.

His age and full condition are not known.
