As if no one saw it coming, Roger Goodell denied the Chiefs appeal to the “tampering” rule they were found “guilty” for.

If you’re not aware of the whole situation, let me tell you. The Chiefs were busted for “illegal contact” with Jeremy Maclin directly before Free Agency started officially. It’s pretty hypocritical that Goodell thought it was hilarious to bust the Kansas City Chiefs on something that every team in the NFL breaks every year. The National Football League fined the Chiefs, Andy Reid and John Dorsey and docked the Chiefs third round draft pick and their sixth round pick for next years NFL draft. Undoubtably the most ignorant and unsolicited fine in the history of the NFL, not because I agree with what the Chiefs did, but because every team does it every year and Goodell acting like it was the first time it was ever done is really, really cute. That’s obviously sarcasm. Andy Reid must have said Goodell had a stain on his shirt walking down a hallway, so Roger had to get his revenge because that’s the only way this penalty makes since to be handed down to the Chiefs.

The Chiefs were guilty of this rule, but they’re not the first who’ve broken it. Inconsistency across the board is honestly ridiculous for a sport that is so highly looked upon. It’s virtually unacceptable.

The fines for the team went down from about 200k to 70k-80k for Andy Reid and others, however the picks will not come back which is the worst part of all of this. Every other team does it every year, yet they get their picks and don’t get “busted”.

Once again, we as fans have to put up with this inconsistent BS from the league. This is the harshest penalty ever laid down to any team, any individual or whatever way you look at it. The inconsistency is honestly the worst part because not only does this screw up the Chiefs draft potentially for a rule everyone breaks, it leaves every other team in the league wondering if they’re going to be broken down by big ole Goodell. Everyone should be scared because everyone should have been popped as well.

I suppose the NFL was so tired of the blatant breaking of that rule that they used the Chiefs to prove a point but it’s completely unprofessional. You know what would be more professional? Making a statement to the teams that you wont take that crap in next years free agency season and that if they saw you break the rule that a punishment was incoming. Instead of you know, screwing one team over because of your five year old child hatred of punishing one person for crimes done by many.

Clark Hunt was quoted disagreeing with the penalty.

“We appreciate the opportunity to make our appeal on this matter, and we acknowledge the minor reduction in fines imposed,” Hunt said in a statement. “However, we continue to believe that the facts of this case combined with the league’s inconsistent enforcement of its tampering policies do not warrant the most severe penalty for player-related tampering in league history. Having exhausted our options under the appeal process, we are turning the page on this issue and look forward to continuing our preparations for the 2016 season.”

Hunt has always stood by the league, however, this is one day he did not which should show everyone something. The Chiefs were screwed for no reason.
