Chiefs elevate G Johnson, release LB Martin

The Kansas City Chiefs promoted guard Rishaw Johnson to the 53-man active roster from the practice squad and waived linebacker Josh Martin, the team announced Tuesday.

The Chiefs signed the 6-foot-3, 313-pound Johnson to their practice squad on Sept. 3 after he was released by the Seattle Seahawks on Aug. 31. He had joined the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in April 2012 and was on their practice squad.

Johnson finished his college career at California University of Pennsylvania after three seasons at Ole Miss. Chiefs center Eric Kush and Johnson were teammates in college.

Martin, an undrafted free agent, signed with the Chiefs in May. The former Columbia University player was inactive for the Chiefs' first three games of the regular season.
