Chick-fil-A holds child sexual abuse fundraiser in Kansas

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Chick-fil-A is partnering with LifeHouse Child Advocacy Center on April 16 to support child victims of sexual and physical abuse.

On April 16, Chick-fil-A is holding a “Spirit Day” fundraiser for LifeHouse Child Advocacy Center. Residents can stop by Chick-fil-A for drive-thru, dine-in, carry out or curbside orders with 10% of the proceeds going to LifeHouse.

LifeHouse provides support to Shawnee, Jackson, Brown and Wabaunsee counties. It provides advocates to children who will help provide services and follow families through the court process, according to a press release from LifeHouse Child Advocacy Center.

Last year, most cases came from the Topeka and Shawnee County areas, according to a press release from Chick-fil-A.

Special Victim’s Unit Detective Barry Nelson has also organized a fundraiser with the goal of raising $3,000 for LifeHouse. So far, the fundraiser has raised $2,000.

“I have been assigned as a Detective in the Special Victim’s Unit since July of 2022,” Nelson wrote on the fundraiser website. “During many of my cases, I use LifeHouse to complete Forensic Interviews with child victims and witnesses. I know the ladies at LifeHouse do a lot of tough work. If a small amount of my help will help LifeHouse, I know it will help the children and families they serve.”

If you’d like to donate to the cause, you can visit the online fundraiser here or contribute by ordering at Chick-fil-A today.
