Chicago West Is Already an Internet Icon and These Reactions Are Proof

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's third child — a daughter — was born on January 15 to much fanfare and one short but sweet blog post from Kim herself.

Keeping (up with) tradition, Kim finally revealed the new baby's name on Friday afternoon. The duo are now the happy parents of North, Saint, and Chicago West. And while Brooklyn and London seem like the go-to city names for kids nowadays, it sure is nice to see that the Midwest is getting a bit of rep with the latest Kimye heir. Given that Kanye has long paid homage to the city throughout his career — his song "Homecoming" is dedicated to the Windy City — it's pretty understandable that the Wests would name their baby after his hometown.

As with anything Kardashian-West-related (or let's be real, anything in general), plenty of people on the internet had some thoughts about the moniker. The selection of "Chicago" is arguably stirring up more chatter than your typical "Kristine" or "Kathy" and some of the jokes are pure gold. Of course, people who hail from Chi-town had quite a couple of takes, too. (One person tweeted, "Until that baby has the taste of mild sauce or baba's, touches down any spot south of 35th/north of riverdale, that baby name is Evanston West," referring to a slew of beloved restaurants located in both Chicago and the suburb of Evanston that's just north of the city proper (and also the locale of cinematic classic Mean Girls).

Some users also noted that the name sounds a sure lot like a prestige primetime drama. "Chicago West sounds like the name of a hit new medical drama coming this fall on ABC," another person wrote. Could Shonda Rhimes produce? Would watch.
