Chicago man arrested in connection with West Side kidnapping, sexual assault
CHICAGO — A Chicago man accused of sexually assaulting a woman after kidnapping her at gunpoint on the city’s West Side is now facing a handful of felony charges.
Chicago police say 30-year-old Davaris Sims, an Austin resident, has been charged with three felonies, including armed kidnapping, aggravated criminal sexual assault with a firearm, and aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm.
Alongside the felony charges, Sims was also handed a citation for having a replica firearm.

According to CPD, the charges were handed down after Sims was identified as the person who allegedly kidnapped a woman at gunpoint as she was leaving a West Side business on Thursday, March 14.
Officers say the victim was in the 200 block of South Cicero Avenue, in Austin, around 5 p.m. when Sims allegedly approached her as she was about to enter her vehicle. Police say he then allegedly forced her to get into the passenger seat of her car at gunpoint.
Sims allegedly used the victim’s car to drive to an unknown location where police say he sexually assaulted her.
Sims was eventually taken into custody after Chicago police released photos of the suspect that were captured by security cameras.
