Chicago man accused of robbing suburban woman after following her home from bank

WHEELING, Ill. — A Chicago man accused of robbing a woman after following her home from a bank in the north suburbs has been charged, police say.

According to a spokesperson for the Wheeling Police Department, 26-year-old Wayne Frazier, a Garfield Park resident, has been charged with one count of robbery.

The charge stems from an incident that police say allegedly unfolded around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14, in the 500 block of West Dundee Road in Wheeling.

Police say Frazier and another suspect allegedly followed the victim home from a bank ATM in Buffalo Grove before accosting and robbing her in the parking garage of her apartment building.

Officers say during the alleged robbery, the woman was thrown to the ground while the two suspects stole her money and other items, leaving her with minor injuries.

Police say video evidence that was recovered helped investigators identify Frazier as one of the individuals allegedly involved and a warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest.

Police eventually caught up with Frazier on Sunday when Riverwoods officers located him during an unrelated traffic stop. He was then taken into custody and turned over to Wheeling police.

Authorities say charges against Frazier for similar offenses are also pending from the Arlington Heights, Summit and Berwyn police departments.

Authorities have not identified or provided a description of the second individual who is believed to have been involved in the alleged robbery.
